Our first commandment is to: Love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. (Matthew 22:37)
Our primary ministry is our family!
I have contemplated these words. I gave my life to Jesus Christ at the age of five, and became a Bond Servant at the age of twenty. My commitment to follow after Christ, regardless of the cost has never changed. However, I must say my journey as a Christian has not been the way I had it all planned in my head.
Proverbs 16:9, “A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” (AMP)
In the spring of 2016, I was prayed for by an elder at a Tuesday night meeting. His prayer was so accurate about the twist and turns my personal walk had endured, and stated I had faithfully followed God at every turn. When he was finished praying, I was in tears. Deep in my heart, I heard, “Do not quit.” I had no idea what our family was going to face in July, but God knew.
Matthew 22:37 And Jesus replied to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (AMP)
Your ministry or service to the Body of Christ has nothing to do with quitting - quitting is a heart condition. Although, we are all given gifts to serve the Body of Christ and should freely serve. Our first and primary commitment must be to love the Lord our God with all our hearts. Many times, I thought I was serving in a place where I would be for the rest of my days on this earth. However, God has purposefully moved me and my family for our own personal walk. Sometimes, I knew change was coming, but sometimes I did not see it. However, time always proved God was in charge of our steps – even when we did not understand the path.
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ, no matter what the circumstances, and loving Him through the good and the difficult seasons of life is where your commitment must be in your heart. This may not always please men; however, your goal must always be to please God – regardless of the cost. Ultimately, we will all stand before God alone. The only words I want to hear are, “Well done.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven.”
As many of you know, Miranda was in a car wreck on July 22, 2016. For about ninety days prior to the car wreck, our lives were completely changed. God was preparing our entire family to be ready for the trial, we were about to face. God placed amazing individuals in our life rapidly who prayerfully carried us through this unexpected collision. A wise friend of mine once told me, “Donna, you often sow in one place and reap in another.”
Our family has faced a multitude of tests, trials, and tribulation. Without fail, prior to every emergency, God has strategically placed our family exactly where we needed to be to walk successfully through the fire. I am so very thankful for a faithful God, who prepares us for each detail of our life. Some of our friends and family have walked through all of our medical trials with us. And, some people have passed through our life for a season who were equally important in encouraging us, praying for us, and refusing to let us give up in spite of the pain. As a family, we are thankful for everyone who walked with us - whether it was for a day, month, year, or years. Each one of you taught us something vital to aid us in trusting God through the pain and refusing to quit. You are all a blessing.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], and your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. (AMP)
One of my dear friends told me in their cell phone my name is Victory. This friend watched our family for seven years face life and death situations, and each time witnessed the faithfulness of God. As Christians, we are all created to overcome whatever circumstances, tests, or trials we face. God is no respecter of any individual and desires each one of us to receive our promises. I pray as you watch our family face a variety of opportunities to walk by faith, God receives all the glory.
Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death.”
